Greetings to all Westside Academy Parents and Students, 

PLEASE NOTE: 

  • South-Western City School District is starting the same day as our school district, but we are not part of their district. 

  • Remember there is NO PARKING in the drop-off and pick-up lanes. If you need to come into the office please park in the Tim Hortons middle parking lot and walk into the front entrance to the school's main door. The south parking lot and the south entrance is reserved for staff only.

Start of School Day Drop off: Students can be dropped off from 7:45 to 8:15 am where they will walk on the sidewalk into the gymnasium. Even if you see a staff member or the doors are open, students must wait until 7:45 am. After 8:15 they must enter through the school's front door. Please pull your car up, next to the end of the sidewalk to drop off your child.

End of School pick up: The school day ends at 2:45 pm. Cars will not be allowed into the parking lot until the buses leave. Students will be called in the order of parents waiting in the pickup line after the school buses leave. DO NOT come into the building to pick up your students, they will be escorted to your car. You must call if you want someone to pick up your child. DO NOT walk through traffic or the pick-up line. Wait your turn.

Early pick up: If you need to pick up your child early due to an appointment you must call the office before 2:00 p.m. and be at the school prior to 2:30 p.m. Park in the Tim Hortons middle parking lot and walk into the front office.

Visiting the Office: If you need to come into the office please park in the Tim Hortons middle parking lot and walk into the front office. Do not park in the middle of the teacher’s parking lot, or park in a teacher's spot.

Kindergarten:  Enrollment is now on a waiting list organized by a seat available on a first come, first seat basis. Please come into the office or call us by next week to reserve a spot for your student. Please get in touch with Mrs. Naimo or Mr. Hassan to make an appointment to complete your child’s registration. The Kindergarten Parent Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19 from 10-2 pm. You will meet the teachers and can drop off school supplies. Please see New Parent Notice .

NEW Students: For all other new students, to be fully registered you must bring all documentation listed on the front of the registration packet before school starts. All information must be submitted to be fully enrolled in Westside Academy. 

Students Forms: For all currently enrolled students, If you did not finish filling out the Re-Enrollment Application, including, updated Proof of Residence within the last 30 days, and Emergency Medical Form, you must send the information with your child the first day of school or you can drop it by the school office. 

Bussing: If you need South-Western City School transportation you will need to fill out an application for their bus service by clicking here. Please note that the South-Western City Schools Transportation office is taking in-person and online applications. The deadline was July 1st, so there will be a 3-week wait at this time for your child to receive transportation. If you need Columbus City Schools transportation you can fill out the form in our office or online application

School clothing: Polo-style solid-color shirts are recommended. No bright or distracting designs are allowed on clothing. The shirt should cover the midsection of the body from the neck to past the waist, and arms covered over the shoulders. No pants or skirts above the knee. Pants should have no tears or holes. All students need closed-toe school shoes. NO SANDALS or high-heeled shoes. If your child wears a scarf it needs to be a solid color. Parents will be asked to bring other clothes if their child is dressed in clothing that is not acceptable. Younger students may want to pack a change of clothes to store in their cubby in case of accidents. 

Hearing and Vision Screening: All kindergarten, first, third, fifth, and seventh graders will be screened for adequate vision and hearing. Referral forms will be mailed to parents when further evaluation by a physician is recommended.
